Parking is easy and free at the front of the cottage either in the parking bay on the main road or the slip road off the parking bay.
From the M5 Exit at Junction 27 and take the A361 to Barnstaple. Continue approximately 36 miles on this road to the Portmore roundabout.
Take the first exit onto the A39. Continue about 1 mile to the Bishops Tawton roundabout and take the first exit A377 to Bishops Tawton.
Continue approximately 1 mile. As you come down the hill you will see a row of cottages on the right in the dip of the hill with a sign “Elliotts Butchers”. Pull into the lay-by on the right in front of the cottages or the slip road entrance halfway along the lay-by on the right. You will see the church of St John The Baptist just beyond the row of cottages.
If you pass the church you have gone too far!
The Old Forge is the white cottage in the middle.
